Match each band to the 1 kHz reference so they sound equally loud. This builds a gentle per-headphone EQ that tames peaks (e.g. the AirPods ~6–8 kHz bump) so your notch and tones sit more accurately.
The curve is your EQ — it cuts bands you turned down (too loud) and boosts bands you turned up (too quiet), centered so overall level barely changes. Applied to live Web Audio only; the rendered background/sleep loop isn't EQ'd.
